Colon Hydrotherapy

What is the purpose of colon cleansing?

Colon hydrotherapy is a safe, effective method of removing waste from the large intestine, without the use of drugs. By introducing filtered and temperature regulated water into the colon, the waste is softened and loosened, resulting in evacuation through natural peristalsis.

Colon hydrotherapy is the gentle rinsing of the colon with warm water, to remove encrusted fecal matter, gas and mucus. This allows vital nutrients to be absorbed more easily and leaves you feeling rejuvenated and healthier. Colonics can also help re-tone & reshape the colon. No chemicals or drugs are involved and the entire therapy is both relaxing and effective. A healthy well-functioning bowel is essential for the maintenance of optimal health. This vital organ remains the most neglected in the human body. When the blood stream is overloaded with toxic waste, the body will function at a lower level.

The benefits of colonics can include increased energy, improved circulation, clearer skin & eyes, mental clarity, weight normalizing, better digestions, relief from bloating and heaviness. By removing the waste material from the colon, the process of detoxification is given a boost and harmful bacteria is removed from the body. Colon hydrotherapy helps your immune system to help itself, by giving it a chance to breathe and allow the lymph system to effectively cleanse your body. Colon hydrotherapy can assist the body with a variety of conditions: constipation, diarrhea, irritable bowel, bloating, excessive gas, indigestion, allergies, candida overgrowth, skin problems, brittle nails and hair, abnormal body odor, unpleasant breath, backache, stiffness, arthritis, fatigue, insomnia, poor concentration and headaches.

When choosing Colon Hygiene Institute for your colon hydrotherapy experience, you can rest assured that your session will be both pleasant and comfortable. We use FDA registered OPEN gravity fed equipment(LIBBE), with sterile and disposable rectal nozzles. The water is purified using ultraviolet light and advanced filtration.

Our colon hydrotherapy sessions last approximately 45 minutes. For your first session, we recommend allocating at least an hour and a half. We suggest having at least 4 cleanses within a 10 days period for maximum benefit. This is because the colon becomes hydrated during the first session, leading to the release of more toxins and waste matter from your body during the next session.   The number of colon hydrotherapy sessions needed depends solely on the individual’s goals and their present lifestyle.

Ancient Beginnings

The practice began in the ancient times in Egypt, perhaps as early as 1500 B.C. and was recorded in a medical document known as the “Eber Papyrus,” where enemas and colon hydrotherapy were used by physicians to treat fever and remove mucus. The ancient Greeks also used colonic irrigation to remove food, bile, and blood, and to assist those with diseases.

Hippocrates, Pare and Galen also advanced the use of enema therapy.

In earlier times, people implemented enema treatments in a river by using a hollow reed to induce water to flow into the rectum.

At an early time in America, enemas were a commonly used procedure to help maintain health and stave off disease. For example, before the departure of the Lewis and Clarke expedition, a physician instructed them in the appropriateness of using enemas in cases of fever and illness. Our grandparents and great-grandparents grew up with the use of enemas as a widely accepted procedure for reversing the onset of illness. Learn more…
